Hi, I’m Vicki.

Welcome to my

Odyssey.

I’m a solo 4×4 traveller, nurse, and advocate for sustainable travel—exploring remote landscapes, uncovering history, and sharing the realities of life on the road.

A little bit about me…

I was born in New Zealand but have built my life in Australia, officially becoming a citizen in 2024.

For the past five years, I’ve embraced a nomadic lifestyle, exploring Australia’s most remote and rugged landscapes.

What started as a leap into the unknown became a way of life—one that’s given me freedom, clarity, and a deeper connection to my place in the world.

For me there’s something powerful about waking up in a new place, with nothing but the open road ahead. The challenges? They’ve made me stronger. The unexpected moments? They’ve shaped me.

This lifestyle isn’t just about travel—it’s about fully stepping into life.

So, if you’re feeling stuck, know this—your Odyssey is waiting. You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to start.

Whether it’s hitting the road, chasing a dream, or simply saying “yes” to the life you truly want, the first step is always yours to take.

Let’s explore, push boundaries, and create a life filled with adventure, purpose, and freedom—together.

My journey is here to fuel your desire to explore, push boundaries, and embrace the unknown.

Places I’ve been so far …

My blog specialises in Outback Australia and bucket list adventures — the kind that involve dirt tracks, remote campsites, and stories you won’t find in your average travel brochure. I’ve travelled right across the country, completed the Big Lap 2.5 times, driven the full length down the centre, and tackled some of the most iconic (and challenging) experiences out there.

  • Gibb River Road (WA) – I’ve driven the full stretch in my Prado solo. Remote, raw, and absolutely worth it.
  • Mitchell Falls (WA) – Yep, made it all the way in. 4WD, hike, and that unforgettable chopper ride out.
  • Cape York (QLD) – Crossed the creeks, camped along the track, and made it to the Tip.
  • Uluru (NT) – More than just a stop — I’ve road-tripped through the Red Centre and felt the pull of this sacred place.
  • Kokoda Trail (PNG) – OK not Australia but definitely an Australian Bucket List destination. I’ve walked it. Every blister, every ridge. One of the hardest and most rewarding treks I’ve ever done.
  • Great Ocean Road (VIC) – A classic. Drove it slowly, taking in every stop, view, and cliff bend.
  • The Big Lap and through the middle three times now
  • Arnhem Land to Adelaide
  • Kings Canyon and the Macdonnell Ranges
  • South Australia’s Lake Eyre + heaps more

I’ve only been posting my travels online since last year. While I’ve already travelled to many places, some I’ll be heading back to so I can share my insights here and on YouTube.

I’ve definitely covered a lot of ground, but there’s always more to see. Still to come: digging deeper into the lower parts of NSW and Tassie. So if I haven’t written about it yet… watch this space.
